Research interests

My primary focus is information sharing behaviour in the digital environment. This spans two key areas:

Research area 1: social commerce and the sharing economy

  • How does social media improve the worth of a customer for a brand?
  • How do ratings and reviews affect trust in sharing economy resource providers?
  • What psychological and functional barriers exist to participating in the sharing economy?


Research area 2: Smart Learning pedagogy

  • How does the technology in a room affect students’ learning outcomes?
  • What psychological barriers exist in group assessments taking place in a Smart Learning Environment?
  • Where technology forms a part of the assessment process, what Necessary Conditions exist for a positive learning outcome?

Lauren has extensive marketing experience across a diverse range of industries including medical sales, publishing, charity, and private education. She also has experience in project management.


Lauren is the Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Marketing Management, leading a team of skilled academics who practice innovative teaching and assessment methods to produce work ready graduates. Lauren has been nominated for Best Lecturer, Best Course Leader, and Best Supervisor at USW’s Student Choice Awards, reflecting her student-first focus.

  • Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Institute of Data and Marketing, and the Public Relations and Communications Association.
