Drug use and criminal behaviour

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

In summary, studies of drug users, offenders and members of the general population have identified a strong statistical connection between drug use and crime. However, the strength of the relationship depends on the type of drugs used and the type of crimes committed. The drugs most strongly connected to crime are heroin and crack, and the crimes most strongly connected to drug use are shoplifting and theft.
