The integration of satellite and terrestrial networks is increasingly
becoming a prominent attribute of the 5G paradigm, reaching out to geographically remote regions where coverage is limited, for traffic offloading applications, or for enhancing spectral opportunities for mobile networks. Taking a step in this direction, standardization groups (e.g., ETSI) and researchers have recently been focused on the spectrum sharing aspect of the Ka band in Satellite Terrestrial Networks (STN) techniques in a bid to address scarce spectral resources for mobile subscribers. Since a large number of terrestrial networks (eNB, small cells) can be installed by the operator, interference between terrestrial network and satellite network can lead to severe problem while accessing satellite bands. Especially, the downlink interference can reduce significantly the terrestrial network capacity. Therefore, in this paper, we present two novel resource allocation algorithms (optimization and heuristic algorithm) which minimizes the downlink interference from satellite to mobile users in a TDMA based STN. This paper will present some initial finding of our
proposed approach under different traffic loads. Results showed that the proposed schemes is able to increase the system capacity of the terrestrial network.
